23-August-2001
The rain has slacked off a bit, and its getting hot: nearly 55 deg F !

I have been working on the station's T-3 satellite uplink to provide
"an enhanced listening experience."

I've added a hell of lot of new music as reflected in the total MP3 count
of 3050:

Airwater: 2001

atomiser: beautiful hallucination

Craig Padilla: MP3.com

Datura: 1.0

John Eric: Under The Ice

Aube:Millennium (Februarius & Martius)

Nicholas Naylor-Leyland: under water sleeping

Pamplemousee: MP3.com

Robert Rich: Rainforest

Rare Birds: Intuit

Zammuto: Solitaire of Stareau (disc 1)

...and as usual...much, much more to come...!

21-July-2001

Soehngenetic: Second Hand.

Wow.  CD of the year for me so far.  Already on several playlists.
A great ambient electro/dub CD from
Elektrolux.

28-June-2001
Hello again from spring/summer-hell.  Mosquitoes the size of mockingbirds have been
horrible this year.  Insect repellent does not seem to bother these monsters.

So I have been forced to seek refuge indoors and work on the station:

Dither: Neve --- strange, nervous soundscapey ambience

Everything Must Go: Unfold --- more nervous and at times percussive ambience

Kim Cascone: Cathode Flower --- microscopic ambience by the beloved label
chief at the now defunct Silent Records

Solo Translatio: Mother Sunrise --- beautiful ambient music from Hypnos

YNOS: Chill Out Sector --- cool synth space-ambience

Tom Heasley: Where The Earth Meets The Sky --- another goodie on Hypnos

...and as always...there is much more to come.

Total ambient stream MP3 count = 2933!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8-June-2001
It has been raining for the last 4 days.  Over 10 inches.  The place is soggy.

Much more rain is forecast :(

I will hopefully be adding a lot more music over the next few days to weeks.

Added this week:

Diatonis: Between The Earth And The Sky
Diatonis: Landscape of a Dream

Lull: Cold Summer
Various: Aurora compilation

27-May-2001
Wow.  Two months since my last installment!  It's been very busy what with taking
care of mom's business while she's in the mental health facility.

Lots of new stuff on the playlist as you can see (click HERE)

I added the following:

Brannan Lane: Troposphere --- Beautiful shimmering electronic ambient soundscapes.
Highly recommended.

Matthew J Harris: Blind Cinema --- Brand new and nice.

Oophoi & Klaus Wiese: Wouivre --- Very cool little ambient disc on Amplexus.

Matt Borghi: Huronic Manor --- This MP3.com artist gets better and better.

Stephen Phillips & Ben Summer: Behind The Mirror --- Gorgeous spacey deep ambient bliss.

Vidna Obmana & Jeff Pearce: True Stories --- Put these two artists together and you reap
 the rewards of of collaboration.

Zer0 0ne: Prot0type2 --- excellent quirky bleepy ambient dub from another excellent
Waveform artist.

Mathias Grassow & Klaus Wiese: Mercurius --- ...more elegance from  the Amplexus krewe.

Enjoy.

23-Mar-2001
I'm home with a nose that's running like a faucet.

So I decided that instead of tossing around in bed sleepless due to
the damn pseudoephedrine, I would attempt to update this diary.

I have added a lot of stuff over the last month including the following:

Cluster: First Encounter Tour
This is a wonderful live CD which captures the beauty and elegance of
one of the premiere electronic ambient/chamber music groups.  I was fortunate
enough to see them on this tour.  Roedelius even signed one of my vinyl records by the group.

Divination: Ambient Dub I & II
Bill Laswell, Jeff Bova et al. really stretch out into some tranquil ambient
dub and straight ambient music.  Highly recommended if you can still find it.

Gianfranco Grilli: il tempio di karnak

Glorious shimmering beatless ambient tracks with a vague Egyptian theme on the always-
elegant Amplexus label.

John Flomer: Night In the Vapor Jungle
Lush, well produced mainly piano-based classical ambient music.  Yum!

Markus Reuter: Digitalis
Another exceptional Hypnos disc.  When I hear it, I think of a medical or psychiatric
delirium or drifting in the Sargasso Sea without bearings.  I suppose this could be disquieting, but
I find it soothing and intriguing.  Aural LSD if you will.

Offworld: Another Planet
Bleepy melodic ambient techno dub.  Downbeat and gorgeous.  A great find on eBay via my
friend jdcapshew@aol.com.

Oophoi: Celestial Geometries
A relatively new Amplexus release featuring the minimalism of Oophoi.  A lot of it reminds me
of prolonged echoing beats on an electronic gong.  Hypnotic and elegant (I keep using that word.)

Ruben Garcia: I Can Feel the Heat Closing In
Melodic ambience involving piano, synths, and guitar.  An exceptional release that I am sorry took
me so long to discover.  Give this my highest rating.  I got mine at Hypnos.

Vir Unis & Steve Roach: Body Electric
Cross Vir Unis' spacey drift music with Steve Roach's tribal ambience and this is what you get.  Can
be a bit jarring for my tastes but essential nevertheless.

Temps Perdu?: Earth Story
Yet another newish Amplexus release.  I have to hand it to Amplexus for getting Temps Perdu?
to put this out.  This is spacey ambient music with touches of flute, samples, and dub that TP
does so well.  I like everything that this group does and this is no exception.  A bit like Jon Hassell's
work but more lushly produced.

tertium non data --- the third is not given
This has a bit of tribal noise edge to it, but soothing most of the time.  Think of deep & dark dub and
drone.  Very nice.

Various: The Big Chill -Beach
Melody is the key word in this wonderful comp of ambient house and chill.  Highly recommended
for those that find classical ambient and drone musics too boring.

...and as usual, I "harvested" some really good things from our friends at MP3.com:

acidage
BlueTonicWorld
Analog Pussy
Budha Building
Irina
Radiowave
Sirk

All in all, I now am streaming 2784 songs that are all in constant, yet non-repeating
rotation.  Come & Sleep With Me!

26-Feb-2001
Happy Mardi Gras
from the FrozZzen North.

Today I added several new things:

Frozen Zen: Frozen Zen [ambient dub from someone in the Waveform stable]
Darshan: Autumn Light [more gorgeous classical beatless ambient from this artist]
Various Artists: Slumberland [another Waveform goodie]
Various Artists: apokalyopsis explicata [a wonderful and unique ambient comp on Multimood]

...and lots more to come.  MP3 count is now at 2634.  I actually removed a few things!

Stay tuned!

18-Feb-2001
Ok.  So I have been busy.  Actually I have been doing quite a bit
of work on the hardware side of the station's operation.  I have
decided to dedicate a machine to the station via a gateway DSL
modem/router combination.  That way I can do my real work (what-
ever that is,) crash my machine, and the station will keep on going.
I have made the hardware investment.  I just need to cable it altogether
and do the software installation.  Perhaps in the next couple of weeks.

On the musical side of things, I added:

Neutron 9000: Lady Burning Sky

which is another older project of Dominic Woosey ( & Laurence
Elliot-Potter).  It's on the R&S label from 1994 c/o
GEMM.

I got a HUGE shipment of new Amplexus stuff from David at Playing By Ear.
As soon as I can get to it, I'll rip and add, rip and add, rip and add...

...and post here!

02-Feb-2001
