Many years ago, I was introduced to a young band that blew the back of my head clean off. Every Monday night at the Uptown Lounge, for just $2.00 I heard them play. Just getting involved in the Athens, Ga. Music scene, I knew I needed to know these guys. As time flowed by I got to know and become active in the musical life of Widespread Panic. I am very saddened by the death of Mikey. We would jam together, smoke together, and even live together. I feel like a brother has passed on. I celebrate his life!
Ok! The Wild Turkey has started to kick in now. I have been rockin’ out to some of the old favorites. Here’s a Short list: Col. Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit. Widespread Panic Dixie Dregs Steve Morse Band Gypsy Cab Co. Even though I don’t play anymore, I still love the bands of my day. I’d give anything to capture the live moment again. My pal Acidman still plays I know. I know how it is but can he imagine a right hand stiff and aching with arthritis? Maybe he’d email me his address and I’d send him a great CD.
