LOUIS A. “TIM” GOLLY December 1, 1915 – January 26, 2009 Louis A. “Tim” Golly, 93, passed away peacefully January 26, 2009 in his home in Pompano Beach, FL, surrounded by his loved ones. Born December 1, 1915 in the Unionport neighborhood of Bronx, NY, Tim will be missed by the love of his life and devoted wife of 58 years, Eileen (McCauley), his beloved children and their families Tim, Mary (Hannon), Tom (and Darlene Jones), and Jay (and Jacqueline Belichick Golly), granddaughters Erin (and Joel Snyder) and Katy (and Christian Schreiber), and great grandchildren Naomi, Sasha, Madeline, and Owen Patrick, as well, his sister Kitty (Wacker) and numerous nieces and nephews. While growing up in New York, Tim was quite accomplished as a competitive diver. Everyone who knew Tim loved him. The list of friends was long. While on his daily walks, Tim enjoyed encounters with neighbors, both in Florida and around the Village of Broadford in County Clare, Ireland. Tim was proud that the Irishmen there called him “one of us”. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, and then again as a New York City Police Officer. A passionate baseball fan, Tim’s fondest memories included police details at Yankee Stadium, where he met many of the Yankee greats of that era. He retired as a Bronx homicide detective in 1966, moving with his young family to South Florida where he served the public good again with the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1980. Tim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass celebrating his life and communion with his heavenly Father will be held on February 4, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Assumption Catholic Church, 2001 S. Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL. The family will receive friends immediately after the Mass at the Golly home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
