(Content should be similar on all three sites.)

Visit Pigeon Key Museum. ***** Take the train/tram from Knight's Key out to Pigeon Key via the old 7-Mile Bridge, get some background info from Harry, the tour guide, then roam around the island on your own. Very Historical and Relaxing, especially for you railroad buffs. Email them

    Restaurants in Marathon:

Keys Fisheries, On the Gulf side. Very laid back - outdoors, paper plates and plastic utensils, but good food. Not to mention the great sunset you'll see.
The Stuffed Pig Great breakfast place. Good breakfast and lunch place.
The Island Fish Company Restaurant and Tiki Bar. Great Gulf view. Good seafood, shellfish, rawbar, and also has some landlubber items.
Cabots On The Water A little upscale, but casual, oceanfront, reasonable, great people.
Cracked Conch Cafe good breakfast. Had fish benedict
    Seven Mile Grill

    Other Marathon Sites (Lodging):

Sombrero Resort , host to packet-pickup for the 7-Mile Bridge Run
    Banana Bay
Cocoplum Beach & Tennis Club: Didn't stay there and can't personally recommend it, but it has GREAT LINKS
    Holiday Inn, Marathon
Buccaneer Resort Former host resort, closed its doors in 2003.
Faro Blanco Resort the one with the operating lighthouse. Closed and will be reopening in 2008 as Faro Blanco Resort & Yacht Club

    Islamorada:

    Islamorada Chamber of Commerce

    Restaurants in Islamorada:

Keys Dining has links to about 20 restaurants, most of which are in Islamorada.
Whale Harbor restaurant in Islamorada was good. If you sit outside, you can see the charter boats coming in and unloading their catches. About MM 84, just below the bridge to Holiday Isle.
Holiday Isle Beach Resort at approx MM 85. Great party place, good Rum Runners, beach, etc.
The Hungry Tarpon, MM 77.5 (just south of the bridge off the service road on the Gulf side). Great breakfasts, shaded outdoor tables (as well as inside dining) and a great "Hibiscus" concoction, kind of like a Mimosa. Alot of pelicans.
  • See and feed the Tarpons at Robbie's Marina next door.

  • The Islamorada Fish Co. is also worth visiting. You sit outdoors under umbrellas out on the Gulf side. Food was good and price was reasonable.
    Lorelie, MM 82, Bay Side
Green Turtle is, I'm told, no longer operating.
    Uncle's, MM81
Bud and Mary's Marina. Not a restuarant, but has lodging and a deli that also prepares box lunches for boaters.
Supposedly, there's an island that appears only at low-tide and frequented by boaters with minimal dress ;-)

    Key Largo

    Gilbert's Resort, Key Largo
John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park
Cafe Largo and Bayside Grill both at the 99.5 MM just below the Honda Dealer on the bay side.
I dined at the Bayside Grill, right on the water and two stories up. Watch the sunset. Food good and reasonable.
