About a century ago, Russian Boars were
brought to the North Carolina area to be hunted for sport, and eventually
escaped into the wild. Since they destroy the local food chain and are harmful
to the forest, the forest service has waged war against them for decades,
but the tough critters still persist. Due to their relatively compact and
robust stature, they are difficult to kill. They grow up to be big ole pigs
with big ole tusks and have chased more than their fair share of hunters
and outdoorsmen up a tree, and killed many a hunting dog which got too close.
Being as wild as they are, it was difficult to get good photos of these young
ones.
